Located in the heart of Merseyside, Knowsley Safari Park is a great family day out in the North West.
The longest safari drive in the UK, Knowsley’s trail covers five miles of landscaped parkland, designed to mimic the natural habitats of the animals you will encounter. Separated into five different zones, your journey will take you through the savannah and woodland of Africa, through southern and eastern Asia and the forests of Eurasia. See the full safari route here. This attraction gives you the chance to see some of Knowsley’s 700 inhabitants, including zebra, rhino, camels and forest buffalo.
The stand out attraction of the safari drive is the lion enclosure. With no fence between you and these beautiful creatures, you may be lucky enough to watch them from a close distance.
You can also take a walk on the wild side with the foot safari. The footpaths take you right around the park and give you the opportunity to get closer to the Amur tigers, the park’s pack of Iberian wolves and wander through the bat forest. Along the way, you can drop into one of the many daily animal displays and expert talks. From learning more about the giraffes to watching the sea lions show off their tricks, Knowsley has a wide range of family activities to keep you entertained for hours.
The park is open daily, with last entry for the safari drive at 4pm. Throughout the school holidays, the park runs a Safari Xpress bus from Liverpool city centre and the park is easily reached via the region’s motorways.
