Must dos

Be a zookeeper experience

A trip to Dudley Zoo isn’t just an opportunity to see exotic animals you may not see elsewhere, but visitors can also book an authentic zookeeper experience. During a zookeeper for a day experience, children can learn about the daily duties of zookeepers whilst getting up close to popular zoo animals.

Animal experiences

Dudley Zoo also hosts many animal experiences which include everything from feeding penguins and giraffes to tickling tapirs. Two to four people can take part in an animal experience, making it perfect for the whole family or a group of young friends.

Dudley Castle

With your Dudley Zoo voucher, you can also enjoy a trip to Dudley Castle. The castle opened in 1530 and has been home to some of the most notorious royal figures that Britain has seen.

What other facilities are there?

Shop and adopt

At Dudley Zoo, you can take back some of your favourite animals! Or at least in soft toy form. Browse through the shop and pick up a toy inspired by Dudley Zoo’s range of lovely animals. You can also purchase an adoption package at the shop, allowing you to adopt one of Dudley Zoo’s very own animals.

Great British Food

For a substantial lunch, an energising breakfast or an afternoon ice cream, The Queen Mary Restaurant is located at the top of the zoo. Here visitors can enjoy good food whilst watching the wandering peacocks out of the window!

What age is Dudley Zoo suitable for?

There is no age restriction at Dudley Zoo. This fascinating place has something for everyone to appreciate. All facilities are accommodating of people from babies to the elderly. Small children can learn at the farm or play on the playground, curious adolescents can explore all kinds of cute and strange creatures, and adults can admire the beauty of the natural world.

What indoor attractions do they have?

On a rainy day, visitors can participate in craft activities at Dudley Zoo’s farmyard. Here they can also pet baby rabbits and chicks. The Castle Creatures tour takes place in the sheltered castle.

When is the best time to visit Dudley Zoo?

Dudley Zoo is open every day of the year (apart from Christmas Day) from 10 am. The grounds close around 5:30 pm, and the last entry is at 3:00 pm. Weekends tend to have more events than during the week, but if you prefer a quieter day, then a weekday may suit you. When visiting Dudley Zoo, book tickets to ensure you get entry on a busy day.

If you want to plan your time of day to visit after receiving your Dudley Zoo vouchers, take a look at the daily activities and feeding times for you to watch and get involved in.

What should you take with you to Dudley Zoo?

After you book tickets to Dudley Zoo, there’s nothing you specifically need to take with you. You might want to take some hand sanitiser for any time you might come into contact with the animals. You can take a packed lunch, although you can get plenty of refreshments on site.

What else can you do in the area?

Black Country Museum

This award-winning museum is the biggest tourist attraction in the Black Country, a district in the West Midlands, including Dudley.
