Quarry Karts is perhaps the most extreme, most challenging adventure at Zip World. Gravity fuelled, three-wheel karts, they require a high level of concentration to navigate down the 3 kilometre Penrhyn Quarry slate track, which contains tunnels, banked corners, chicanes and more.

The Mountain Carts boast a low centre of gravity alongside a wide wheelbase, giving them superb stability and allowing you to really commit to the corners. Independent, hydraulic disc brakes mean you can also drift around corners like a true pro!

You get two runs included with your ticket, which means you can learn the track on your first trip down the mountain, and then try to improve your performance the second time round. It all takes place in the stunning Penrhyn Quarry, a historic slate quarry that was once the largest manmade pit in the world. Now filled with brilliant blue water and boasting stunning, panoramic views, it’s a truly iconic location to visit.

You’ll be taken to the top of the mountain in red army trucks and will be provided with all the kit you need to take part. Due to the challenging nature of Quarry Karts, it has a minimum age of 15 and you should allow up to 2 hours to take part. Penrhyn Quarry is also home to Velocity 2 (the world’s fastest zip line), and the Blondin Restaurant, providing fantastic food & a well-stocked bar to top off your adventurous day.
