Zip World Penrhyn Quarry is a legendary location that has a special place in the unique history of coal mining in North Wales and the UK as a whole. The oldest slate quarry in the world, it was also the world’s largest manmade pit during its early history. It’s now filled with brilliant blue water that makes for a stunning sight while you embark on this in-depth tour.

Lasting around 90 minutes in total, this is a great option if you don’t quite feel up to the adrenaline of Velocity 2 or Quarry Karts. Taking place in one of the red Zip World army trucks, you’ll be driven up to the top of the quarry by an experienced guide, treating you to the history of the quarry and surrounding area, as well as pointing out the sights visible with the panoramic views beyond.

At the end of your tour, you’ll have the chance to reflect on your experience with some tea & cake at the Blondin Restaurant, also serving up some delicious local delicacies while you watch the brave zippers flying over the quarry. Kids from the age of 5 are able to take part in the Penrhyn Quarry Tour.
