Bristol Zoo Gardens is one of the best family days out in Southwest England. It's not only fun but also highly educational, allowing adults and children of all ages to learn about the habits and behaviours of a huge range of animals, including lions and lemurs. As one of the world's oldest zoos, Bristol Zoo Gardens has been in operation since 1836, and today it's not only a top UK attraction but also an important international charity working to protect endangered species locally and across the world in countries such as South Africa and the Philippines.
Along with a selection of animal enclosures, where families can see gorillas, red pandas, African penguins, spider monkeys, aye-ayes, crocodiles, flamingos, and more, Bristol Zoo Gardens is also home to a huge variety of attractions and activities. The aquarium and meerkat lookout are among some of the most popular on-site attractions, while kids will also love the daily animal talks and feeding events, the activity centre with face painting and brass rubbing, and the outdoor adventure playground. There's even ZooRopia, a 17 section treetop rope course for children aged 5 and over which ends with an adrenaline-pumping zip line all the way back down to the bottom. Download the park map
