Drayton Manor (Staffordshire)

A day out for the whole family. Twist and turn on the high-adrenaline rides, such as Accelerator and Maelstrom or perhaps brave the G-forces of Pandemonium and Shockwave. Drayton Manor offers plenty of challenges for the fearless teenager, but it is great for younger kids too.

The Big Sheep, Abbotsham (Devon)

With a wonderful mixture of things to do, The Big Sheep is a fantastic day out if you are looking for a change from the seaside. Spread over 500 acres of rolling green countryside, Alton Towers is the largest theme park in the UK. It’s divided into ten zones and there’s something for everyone. Thrill-seekers will make their way to Forbidden Valley, the Dark Forest and X-Sector for the white-knuckle rides, such as Nemesis, Oblivion and Rita. Young kids will lead you to Cbeebies Land for a spin on the Go Jetters Vroomster Zoom and a tummy-lunching jump on the Peter Rabbit Hippity Hop!

 

Brand new for 2021 is the David Walliams-inspired Gangsta Granny ride where you race through the sewers with your booty of crown jewels trying to evade capture! Gulliver’s Kingdom Resort, Matlock Bath (Derbyshire)

Set in 150 acres of Berkshire countryside, Legoland is a haven for kids under 12 with over 55 rides and attractions. Take to the skies on ‘Flight of the Sky Lion’, the UK’s first flying cinema or experience zero gravity as you drop with ‘Fire & Ice Freefall’. Drive an electric Lego car around a track or ride the Duplo Dino Coaster.

 

There is a huge amount of entertainment besides the theme park rides too with meet and greet opportunities, live shows and 4D movies. With two Lego theme hotels on site, you can extend your visit too. Legoland’s current policy offers free entry to children under 90 Centimetres.

Harbour Park, Littlehampton (West Sussex)

Situated right on the beach and loads of fun things to do for the whole family. Many of the rides are suitable for the youngest children with no minimum height. Besides the traditional waltzers, dodgems and carousels, you can treat your little kids to the Orca Whale Ride (minimum height 0.9m).

 

For something different try the adventure golf or the trampolines – or, in rainy weather, get indoors with the Sunken City soft play centre and family arcade. Harbour Park is open daily over the summer holidays and locally there are many events taking place, including a sandcastle competition! Harbour Park’s currently policy allows Parents/guardians to ride free with children under 1.2m.

 

Wheelgate Park, Farnsfield (Nottinghamshire)

Open daily over the summer holidays, this 30-acre attraction near Sherwood Forest combines a theme park, farm and water park offering a great day out for children under 12. The park is divided into 8 zones, each based on a theme – Robin Hood is a very popular one! There are two big indoor areas, the Robin Hood playzone and Black Diamond Mining Zone with the Major Oak wooden adventure playground and roller coaster. The Water Park and Splash Land is the largest outdoor water park in the UK. Parking is free. Wheelgate Park’s currently policy allows free entry for children under 95 Centimetres.

 

Oakwood Theme Park, Narberth (Pembrokeshire)

Set in beautiful Pembrokeshire in 90 acres of grounds, this is wet and wild adventure at its best! Over 35 rides offering something for everyone. Older kids and adrenaline junkies will want to try the headline rides, such as Megafobia and Speed. Make sure they go on Drenched, the roller coaster that plunges at 56 mph into a wave of cold water!

 

Younger children have their own thrill rides with bobsleighs, the Treetops roller coaster and the waterslide adventure of Snake River Falls. Elsewhere there is an air target shooting range, games arcade and mini golf. Plenty of places to eat here, including picnic areas. Keep a look out for events over the summer holidays now that Covid restrictions have been lifted. Oakwood Theme Park’s currently policy allows free entry to children under 2 years of age.

Landmark Forest Adventure Park, Cairngorms National Park (Scotland)

Just 7 miles from Aviemore in the Scottish Highlands, you will find this adventure park hidden in the forest. Families can enjoy the high rope trails and roller coasters as well as the flumes and waterfalls of the Wild Water Coasters ride.
