Fireworks Displays Near You This Bonfire Night

It’s that time of year again! “Remember remember the 5th of November!

But why do we celebrate the 5th of November?

The explosive evening originates from Guy Fawkes and his friends trying to blow up King James I of England and VI of Scotland in 1605. Whilst it is known as Bonfire knight, its also known by some as Guy Fawkes Night and others the night of the ‘Gunpowder Plot’ because of the explosives placed beneath the Houses of Parliament.

When is Bonfire night?

Bonfire night is celebrated every year on the 5th of November, however, it’s now common for large firework displays to be held across the weekend the date falls on.

How is Bonfire night celebrated?

Today we celebrate it with friends and family whilst stood around a bonfire or by looking up to the nights sky to witness the dazzling firework displays. These displays tend to be held in large public parks or open spaces. If you are look hard enough, you may even see the burning of a Guy Fawkes effigy or as they are better known ‘a penny for the guy.’
