Blackpool Tower Circus is the oldest permanent circus in the world, as it dates back to 1894. It has been running continuously ever since, even during two World Wars. The giant Arena measures 110 feet x 110 feet and is surrounded by seating for an audience of 1,300 people.
The circus no longer has any animal acts, which ceased to perform at the Blackpool Tower Circus in 1990. The modern circus stars Artistes from around the world with acrobatics, juggling, high wire, trapeze, and all kinds of other stunts. There are also clowns who appear in every show, such as Mooky and Mr Boo.
Special effect lighting and strobe lights are used throughout the show and this should be borne in mind if potential visitors are likely to be affected by this type of lighting.
The Blackpool Tower Circus is suitable for all ages.
Apart form school groups, all seats are unreserved on a first come, first served basis. The seats are arranged in tiers around the rink. Pushchairs are not allowed into the arena and have to be left at the buggy park beside the Blackpool Tower Dungeon shop.
Blackpool Tower Circus is located at the base of Blackpool Tower within the space between the giant legs. It is clearly visible on the Promenade, facing the beach and can be reached via the Promenade or Bank Hey Street.
If travelling to Blackpool Tower Circus by car, the town is signed from the M6 and M55. Leave the M55 at Junction 4 and follow the brown signs for the town centre and car parks. If using SatNav the post code is FY1 4BJ. There is no parking on site, but there are many pay and display car parks throughout the town from where it is only a short walk to the Blackpool Tower Circus.
