The Blackpool Tower Ballroom is spectacular and never fails to amaze. The attraction first opened in 1894 and has delighted visitors ever since. It is famous for its unique sprung dance floor and stunning architecture, and people travel from all over the world to dance on this remarkable floor. The Ballroom is also often seen on television, as it is the one of the venues used in Strictly Come Dancing.
When not in use as a venue for TV shows or private functions, the Ballroom is open to visitors who can watch the dancing while enjoying an afternoon tea. Dancing sessions are available so that anyone can try dancing in the Ballroom. Many visitors also come to listen to the historic Wurlitzer organ, which is played at regular intervals throughout the day. Visitors can explore the Ballroom and the iconic balconies, sit and listen to music, dance or simply watch the dancing. There are also many special events held here, such as a New Year's Eve Ball.
Entry to the Blackpool Tower Ballroom costs £2.95 per person. It is suitable for anyone who enjoys dancing and music, but will have less appeal to young children.
The Blackpool Tower Ballroom is situated on the sea front, along the Promenade in Blackpool. Access is via the Promenade or via Bank Hey Street.
There is a regular tram link along the entire length of the Promenade, which stops close to the Blackpool Tower Ballroom.
If driving to the Blackpool Tower Ballroom, the town is well signposted from the nearby motorways. Drivers should follow the M6 to junction 32 and then take the M55. Leaving the motorway at Junction 4, follow the brown signs towards the sea front and the car parks. There is no car parking available at the ballroom, but there are public car parks close by.
