With dozens of rides and attractions at Lightwater Valley Theme Park, from captivating water rides to immersive rollercoasters anyone who has a go on one of these rides is bound to step off wanting more.

Go Safari

Lightwater Valley has some brand new rides that make up the Go Safari area. You can get lost in the exotic wonders of Africa as you fly on Elephant Flight or bounce around on the Jumping Kangaroos. Go ahead and step aboard the Savannah Express for an exciting safari experience.

Children’s play

This park isn’t just about room-spinning rides, with an abundance of play areas for children and parents to enjoy. The Tree-top Trails allow you and your family to explore the world from above the trees, perfect for your little monkeys. For younger visitors, the Outdoor Play area has the potential to entertain for hours as children can slip through slides, crawl up climbing walls and wander through string walkways.

What indoor attractions do they have?

If you or your little ones are more accustomed to the indoors, or the day hits a rainy spell, then Lightwater Valley has a couple of choices for indoor activities. Jester's Jungle Fun Indoor Play allows your little ones to have fun in the forest as they run, crawl and climb their way around this indoor play area. There’s also a soft play area so children anywhere between the ages of 1-7 don’t have to miss out on the fun!

Food and drink

After a long day of exhilaration, the whole family will have worked up quite an appetite! Lightwater Valley Theme Park has an array of food stalls to fill those hungry tummies! Whether you want pizza or paninis, hot dogs or candyfloss, you can have a satisfying meal or a tantalizing treat. Picnics are also welcome on-site if you would prefer!

What age group is Lightwater Valley suitable for?

Anyone is welcome at Lightwater Valley Theme Park, however, the park might be best enjoyed by children between the ages of 3 and 14 years. Anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult and some rides and children’s play areas have age and height restrictions.

What should you take with you and why?

A raincoat or poncho may be useful for water rides, or if the weather takes a soggy turn. Any other essentials that you need can be brought with you, however, travelling light is usually the best option to fully enjoy the experience freely!

When is the best time to visit?

Lightwater Valley Theme Park is open every weekend from Spring through until Autumn so you have plenty of time to visit through these months. The theme park is closed during the winter months. If it rains on your visit, there’s no need to worry as there are indoor activities to enjoy! Do note that opening times may vary and it’s best to view the website to keep up to date.

What else can you do in the area?

A few miles down the road from this theme park is the quaint cathedral town of Ripon which you and the family can wander around. Fountains Abbey is only a twenty-minute drive from Lightwater Valley. These monastic ruins and gardens are absolutely beautiful for anyone to appreciate. The nearby main A-road, the A1M, can also take you to some gorgeous locations such as Harrogate, Knaresborough and York.
