Located in the South Promenade area of Blackpool, Lancashire, Blackpool Pleasure Beach is one of the North West’s favourite days out. Founded in 1896, this 42-acre (170, 000 m2) amusement park contains 38 rides and attracts over 5 million visitors a year.
Providing spectacular views over the Fylde Coast, The Big One is particularly notable; standing at an impressive 235 ft., this is currently the tallest roller coaster in the UK. From the oldest ride in the park, Sir Hiram Maxim’s Captive Flying Machines, to their newest addition, the UK’s first double-launch coaster ICON, there is something for everyone. Other popular choices include the Grand National, Valhalla, Big Dipper, Infusion, and Avalanche, amongst many others.
It should be noted that the bigger rides may have height restrictions, but children are certain to be entertained at the UK’s only Nickelodeon Land. Boasting 12 adventurous, character-based rides, it features SpongeBob's Splash Bash, Dora's World Voyage and Rugrats Lost River. The park also has its own miniature steam train, the Pleasure Beach Express, which takes visitors on a journey around the south side of the park on a 21-inch gauge track.
Blackpool Pleasure Beach has been continually enhancing its entertainment offering across the park, and there is no shortage of things to do. You can sit back and enjoy world-class entertainment and shows, including the famous Hot Ice Show, visit Ripley’s Believe It or Not, meet your favourite Nickelodeon characters on the Team Nick stage and enjoy food and drink from one of the many food vendors located throughout the park.
This award-winning, record-breaking park is easily accessible by car or public transport, and it is open on weekends from 16th February-31st March, then daily from 1st April-3rd November 2019. Opening and closing times vary throughout the season, and it is advised that you check when you book your ticket. Opening times.
