I have been practising yoga for many years, but began to dedicate my life and passion to a deeper exploration of sadhana, meditation and philosophy in 2009. Since that time, my life has beautifully transformed.
My twenties were dedicated to exploring our exquisite world, discovering the natural wonders of Africa; the colourful vibrancy of Latin America; the exotic tropics of Asia and the historic culture of Europe. Experiencing the sensory delight of our world from sunrise to sunset; I fell head over heels, enamoured with life. I married my Peruvian husband in the Andes of Peru, and returned home after a decade of exploration and discovery. I found life distant and disconnected on my return to the U.K, as if the world had lost its colour. It was then that I discovered yoga. My thirties have been a very different kind of journey; an inner journey. The path of yoga lights the way to our inner world, an ocean without depths, beauty beyond words, an expanse without horizon. Yoga has offered me a world beyond this world, the bliss of an ocean’s sunset on a cold, cloudy day and love’s forever open arms.
I fell head of heels in love with yoga and immersed myself in its bliss. My life totally transformed, as many yogi’s tale ends and begins. My life style, my job, my health and my insights gently evolved, as my yoga path deepened.
Tapas is the burning desire to understand more and this burned brightly, therefore I dedicated myself to the study of yoga, svadhyaya. I have completed a BWY and Yoga Alliance accredited teacher training diploma (390 hours) at Triyoga, London; a Vinyasa Flow Yoga Alliance accredited teacher training (200 hours) with Claire Missingham; and a Yoga Alliance accredited pre and postnatal teacher training with baby yoga and baby massage (95 hours) with Katy Appleton, London. I am currently doing a 300 hour advanced teacher training course with Sianna Sherman in Berlin. ‘The better you practice, the brighter the flame’ ~ BKS Iyengar.
I have been fortunate in working with some wonderful yoga tutors including Anna Ashby, Joey Miles, Claire Missingham, Katy Appleton, Shiva Rea and Jeff Phenix, who have instilled inspiration and yoga passion into my practice and my teaching.
I teach an energetic Vinyasa Flow style of yoga, blissfully infused with the grace of asana, flowing through breath towards a soft, meditative mind. My classes are designed with a careful balance of asana, pranayama and meditation, created with the intention to cultivate and enhance the yoga potential in each individual. My class develops strength, flexibility and poise, creating a sense of lightness within and without. We begin within at breath awareness, opening and expanding with energy through the body and gently returning to an inner space with peace, clarity and calm.
I teach beginner and intermediate level classes at The Tree Room Colchester, private studios and yoga within companies, including Hiscox Insurance and Kids Physio Works. Additionally, I offer unique pregnancy yoga classes, teen yoga and one to one yoga sessions ~ there is a yoga path for everybody. I also lead regular yoga workshops at The Tree Room, exploring asana, pranayama, mediation, yoga philosophy and restorative yoga. I enjoy sharing the joys of yoga for charity and lead regular yoga retreats in the U.K and Europe.
I was privileged to have a yoga space at Colchester Free Festival 2012 – 2015. This is a vibrant, colourful event, sharing local talent and creativity. I taught Vinyasa Flow Yoga classes in a beautiful, landscaped park under the trees beside a Roman Castle throughout the day. In 2015, festival yogis had the opportunity to practice yogic dharma, donating to raise funds for LSU, a much loved African charity.
