Nestling on the fringes of the stunning Cotswolds, a renowned Area of Outstanding National Beauty, Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens is the perfect destination for family days out.
Located between Cheltenham and Oxford, it’s a popular choice for people in the south of England, but there’s plenty to captivate visitors from further afield as well. The park is spread over 160 acres and split into 4 areas, each dedicated to a different type of wildlife. Firm favourites like giraffes and zebras roam wild and free, but thanks to the park’s committed conservation efforts, there’s also the chance to see endangered mammals like the Asiatic Lion and the Bactrian Camel. There’s a host of playful small mammals and primates to meet as well, including the mischievous meerkats and the critically endangered Greater Bamboo Lemurs. Budding bird watchers can witness up to 93 different species as they explore, while the park is also home to one of the largest reptile collections in the country, housing everything from exotic iguanas to awesome anacondas.
There’s plenty of activities to help you plan your day, whether you want to be there for penguin feeding time or let the kids run free in the Skymaze adventure playground. The train is a great way to take everything in, and there’s also a helpful interactive park map download which can help you organise your visit. The park is open every day of the year except Christmas day from 10am until 6pm, and until 5pm between November and March.
