An iconic piece of English heritage and important Bristol landmark, the Clifton Observatory which is located high up on Clifton Downs and above the Avon Gorge is a must see attraction for tourists and local residents of all ages (but please note children of under four years old will not be able to go in to the cave for health and safety reasons!).
Originally built in 1766, it was used as a mill before it was partially destroyed in 1777 and left derelict until 1828.
