An iconic piece of English heritage and important Bristol landmark, the Clifton Observatory which is located high up on Clifton Downs and above the Avon Gorge is a must see attraction for tourists and local residents of all ages (but please note children of under four years old will not be able to go in to the cave for health and safety reasons!).

 
Originally built in 1766, it was used as a mill before it was partially destroyed in 1777 and left derelict until 1828.

Complete with one of the only two Camera Obscura’s open to the public in England and Ghyston’s cave, it offers truly breath taking views of the Clifton suspension bridge, the city of Bristol and outstanding panoramic views of the Avon Gorge.
